How It Works

How does the Solar Quote BS Detector work?
You upload your solar proposal (PDF). Our tool extracts the key numbers — system size, price, production estimate and incentives — then benchmarks them against real-world data from NREL and EIA to flag anything that looks off.
Is the BS Detector really free?
Yes. The automated analysis is completely free. If you want a licensed engineer to review the full proposal in detail and write a formal opinion letter, that is a paid service.
What red flags does the BS Detector look for?
Price per watt above $4.00, inflated production estimates, incorrect tax credit calculations, missing equipment specs (module efficiency, inverter brand), and suspiciously short or long payback periods.
Can I use this tool for commercial solar quotes?
The tool is optimised for residential (under 50 kW) quotes right now. Commercial project reviews are available as a paid service — contact us for a quote.
